JohnnieRay , “The Dancin Man,” is a lifelong dancer and a certified dance instructor with over twenty years of experience. However, unlike traditional dance teachers, he delights in creating dance styles that get couples dancing together – and enjoying it—on the first lesson!

He is the originator of Freestyle Swing, a style of partner dancing that teaches couples to connect through the hands rather than relying on the standard methods of footwork and counting—thus making dancing much easier and more fun. He also created Freestyle Bal Swing, a blend of traditional Balboa and Freestyle Swing.

JohnnieRay has taught hundreds of couples to dance through the Adult Education programs in Clovis and Fresno. He now offers private classes in multiple locations in both cities, and is currently expanding into the greater Sacramento area with a home base in Roseville. JohnnieRay’s classes are filled with music of all genres, laughter and the contagious spirit of the love of dance.

Besides playing great music customized for each occasion on his state-of-the- art Bose equipment, he is known as “The Dancin DJ,” entertaining with his own dancing as well as offering dance lessons as part of the event upon request. JohnnieRay choreographs first dances for weddings, crafting the moves to the music of the bride and groom’s chosen song. Because there is no footwork involved, dances can be learned quickly and easily compared to traditional methods. In conjunction with this, he offers dance classes for wedding parties and/or families, as well as DJ services for rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions.
